11/04/2015 - Crew: Andrew & Jane

Today we decided not to go on the boat but do complete some repairs. Having been promised a fine day after an early band of rain passed we travelled to Norwich in very heavy rain. Obviously painting the decks was off, but we had to get to Broadland Yacht Brokers to buy an anti theft outboard cover before 1pm. We had a chat with Pam, and are considering putting Hunky Dory up for sale with her.

Finally the sun came out. Lunch at the Galley. For me half and half a bowl of soup and warm cheese roll and for Jane Soup. The only suprise was that the soup was tomato and basil, not carrot and corriander as informed by the waitress! This was followed by millionaires shortbread and tea.

Then off to Hunky Dory to see whether it was in the water and how wet it was. It was still in the slip way where someone had moved it last week. As the decks were too wet to paint it was off to Wroxham Marine and Roys to buy some parts and a quick trip to Norwich for Jane to go to Neals Yard and me to go to Wilkos (Car Parts).

We then went to McDonalds in Wroxham for a cup off tea, before going back to the boat and replacing the rear wooden strut holding the canopy and all the rusty canopy pins. The boat had been move and we were at risk of a boat mast puncturing the canopy. so had to move the boat forward. Someone had also crashed into the rear of the boat damaging the rear fendering, deck and side fendering. More repair work to be completed when I can get the bits. The longest job in repairing the canopy was putting in the canopy pins, but it was difficult working on the water instead of being on the land.

We finished late and then went to Waffle House for Dinner before going to our hotel.

Example below is the anti theft outboard cover. The idea is that an outboard is less desirable to steal without the cowling.
